My Wedding Dress Shopping Experience

My Wedding Dress Shopping Experience

I am SO excited to share more about my experience at the wedding boutiques I visited, in total I think I visited about 5 across 3 months, but read on for my favourites!

Halo and Wren: The Modern Chic Bride’s Paradise

I embarked on my wedding dress shopping adventure with so much excitement alongside my best friends. My first stop was Halo and Wren, a hidden gem that, from the moment I stepped inside, was like a mini bridal paradise. The décor and interior was truly every brides dream and you must go and see for yourself!

The selection at Halo and Wren was nothing short of UNREAL, I’m talking; Made With Love, Jane Hill, Jenny Yoo, Tring Peng …  the list goes on! But it wasn’t just the dresses that stole my heart—it was the impeccable customer service. The staff treated me (and my friends) like their new best friends, ensuring I felt comfortable and confident throughout the entire process.

And let’s talk about the prosecco! As I twirled in front of the mirror, my two best friends sipped bubbly and cheered me on (plus we bought in some music as well). They were my ultimate hype girls, celebrating every dress I tried on. Although I didn’t find my final dress in Halo and Wren is was by far the best first dress try on experience I could ask for and would recommend to all!

Grace Loves Lace: A Boho Bride’s Dream

For the summer boho bride in me, I made my way to Grace Loves Lace, a brand that originated in Australia. With a glass of bubbles in hand, I explored their collection of gowns. The fabrics were light, airy, and perfect for warm-weather weddings. However, I realised they didn’t quite flatter my figure. But fear not—Grace Loves Lace is a haven for brides seeking that bohemian vibe. If you’re after less push-up support and more sleek elegance, this is your spot.

Perfection Bridal: Where the Justin Alexander Magic Happened

Finally, my journey led me to Perfection Bridal in Maidstone after getting my Aunties dress from here back in 2016. This independent boutique has been around for over 25 years—and it’s easy to see why. When I arrived, I had the entire shop to myself with huge mirrors and such a spacious layout (perfect for pretending you are on a catwalk).

The ladies at Perfection Bridal were so warm and welcoming. They made me feel right at home, like I was shopping with old friends. We also  brought our own drinks to celebrate the occasion (and just rang ahead to check this was ok).

Now, let’s talk about the dresses. Some felt a bit more traditional, perhaps a touch older than my taste. But then, like a beacon of bridal brilliance, I stumbled upon Esme, from the Justin Alexander collection. The dress I tried on was unlike anything I’d seen before – a strapless, sweetheart, lace,  fit and flare dress that was utterly unforgettable. And even better, Perfection Bridal offered expert tailoring to ensure the fit was flawless. The boutique were also absolute gems when they said I could come back 8 weeks before to try on the dress again and add an overskirt last minute so I could have two looks for my wedding. I am so glad I got my dress at Perfection Bridal ❤️

Remember, it’s not just about the dress—it’s about the fun and memories you create along the way. My top tips would be; start looking 12 months before, don’t rush the experience, take your biggest hype friends/family with you who will embrace the experience and bring only joy. Happy dress shopping! 🌟

*Note: The boutiques mentioned are based on the user’s experience and may vary for other brides. 😊
